The Santa Clara Convent is one of the most beautiful and evocative architectural complexes in La Antigua Guatemala. Founded in 1699 by Poor Clare nuns from Puebla, Mexico, the convent reflects the expansion of female religious orders during the colonial period. It is known for the elegance of its ruins, surrounded by gardens and a peaceful atmosphere.

Its most distinctive features include the impressive church façade and the central fountain of the former cloister, considered one of the most photogenic spots in the city. Despite the damage caused by the earthquakes of 1717 and 1773, much of the structure remains, allowing visitors to explore its courtyards, arches, and corridors.

Today, in addition to its historical and cultural significance, the convent is also a sought-after venue for destination weddings and special events, thanks to its romantic charm and unique architecture.

Located just a few steps from Central Park, Santa Clara offers an ideal setting to appreciate colonial architecture, history, and the serenity that defines La Antigua Guatemala.
