The San Jerónimo Cloister is one of the lesser-known yet charming historical sites in La Antigua Guatemala. This former colonial complex was part of one of the city’s earliest educational institutions, originally established in the 16th century as the San Jerónimo College.
Over the years, the site underwent changes and suffered damage from the earthquakes that impacted the region, preserving today remnants of its original architecture. Its courtyards, arches, and walls evoke the academic and religious life of the colonial era, offering a peaceful and historically rich atmosphere.
Today, the cloister has been restored and is used as a cultural venue and for special events, providing visitors with an authentic experience in a setting filled with historical legacy.
