The Temple and Convent of the Society of Jesus is one of the most elegant architectural complexes in La Antigua Guatemala. Founded by the Jesuit order in the 17th century and completed in 1698, its construction was led by architect José de Porres, one of the most prominent builders of the colonial period. The complex stands out for its refined Baroque architecture, reflecting the intellectual and educational influence of the Jesuits in the city.
After suffering damage from the earthquakes of 1717 and 1773, the complex was partially destroyed, but it has since been carefully restored, allowing visitors to appreciate the harmony of its courtyards, corridors, and architectural details.
Today, the complex houses the Spanish Cooperation Training Center, along with offices, cultural spaces, and exhibition rooms, making it a vibrant destination where history blends with contemporary life. Its prime location near Central Park makes it an ideal stop for those interested in art, history, and architecture.
