Convento y Arco de Santa Catarina
Located near Central Plaza, Arco de Santa Catalina is an Antigua icon. Built in the 17th century, it originally connected the Santa Catalina convent to a school, allowing the cloistered nuns to pass from one building to the other without venturing out on the street.
Convento de Capuchinas
This 18th-century convent is known throughout the world and features stunning historic architecture framing a serene courtyard with a cascading fountain and vibrant bougainvillea trees.
Museo del Libro
This intimate museum is located in Central Plaza and houses a diverse selection of Colonial era books, landmark city documents, replicas of printing presses from the 1600’s and the first edition of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra’s influential novel The Indigenous Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha.
Volcan de Pacaya
No trip to Antigua is complete without exploring the volcanoes outside the city. Hike the breathtaking landscape of the impressive Pacaya, which is Guatemala’s most active volcano, and enjoy views of three other nearby volcanoes when you reach the 8,000 summit, Agua, Fuego and Acatenango.
